Today’s image comes from A Versailles Christmas-tide, by Mary Stuart Boyd, available as a public domain e-text on Project Gutenberg . Originally published in 1901, it was illustrated with sketches and drawings by Boyd’s husband, A. S. Boyd. The book is full of delightful line drawings of life in France at the turn of the 20th century.
This particular drawing is of a nun carrying an oil lamp, but it stands as its own as an enigmatic drawing. As always, click to see it full-sized.
Peace,
Bekka
