Blossom Seeley (1891-1974) was born Minnie Guyer, in San Francisco. By the time she was 20, she was an accomplished vaudeville actress and performer. By the 1920s, she was a celebrated jazz and ragtime singer with recorded hits. She also had minor parts in two films in 1933. She continued to record music and act (including on TV) up through the 1960s. She died, aged 85, in NYC.
This is portrait of her near the beginning of her career and she is all smiles for the camera. I just love her hat – with blossoms all over it! Wow! It is hard to tell what she is holding though – a bouquet? Doesn’t look like it. Maybe a muff? Hard to say….
Enjoy!
Peace,
Bekka
