These are "period-style" circlets for SCA / Ren-Faire wear. Also great for Renaissance-style weddings and Shakespearian plays. I call them "period-style" because they are not documented, plus they have modern findings. However, beaded circlets themselves ARE period for the SCA (pre-1600). I also do not use gemstones / beads that are clearly not period - I don't use tiger-eye or tiger-iron, for example; as they were unknown during the Middle Ages in Europe (unless, of course, I am requested to do so for a custom order). I also do not use true nephrite jade, for though it was known in the Orient, it too was not known in Europe, and these are European style circlets. I will occasionally use "substitutes" for gemstones known in period but expensive to come by today: blackstone for jet, sodalite for lapis lazuli, chalk turquoise for true turquoise, imitation hematite for natural hematite. Also, as did jewelry makers in period, I sometimes use glass imitations of real stones - deep red glass for garnet for example, or glass "pearls".

However, these circlets are quite suitable for "everyday" Faire or SCAdian use. They are durable, and 100% guaranteed. If it ever breaks, doesn't fit, or just doesn't match the garb you thought it would, contact me for a repair, replacement, or refund. Each is strung on medium-weight nylon coated beading wire, with a lobster claw clasp and extender chain to make it adjustable. The minimum and maximum lengths of each circlet is listed under it. A circlet can be made longer with addition of a longer chain (free upon request), but generally not shortened. Please measure your head carefully to make sure the circlet you order will fit you.
